Elkhart's New Companies
ELKHART, Ind. - Two companies have announced plans that could mean about 200 jobs at factories in northern Indiana's Elkhart County, which has been among the country's hardest-hit places during the recession.
The startup company T-Flex LLC says it could hire as many
as 130 people over the next two years for its plant making bags for products such as dog food, potato chips and frozen food. It will occupy a building in Elkhart left vacant when a mattress company closed in April.
Dwyer Instruments Inc. announced Tuesday it would expand its Wakarusa operations to absorb manufacturing now done at a Puerto Rico plant. The Michigan City-based company makes industrial gauges, instruments and controls and expects to hire about 60 workers by the end of the year.
